In our second episode of our great American roadtrip we’re taking our 1979 Ford Fairmont on an epic adventure! Last week we set off and tragically lost our 1979 Lincoln Continental. But despite the loss, we’re soldiering on with our heroic Ford Fairmont! With more than 1800 miles to go, we pick up the trip in Oklahoma to explore historic Route 66 in our 1970s time capsule

You have some really British twangs occasionally, where you from? I'm a Brit in CA with a channel and used this video for inspiration for a video I'm doing next year. Great work, inspiring 👏
4:11 These magazine images were used on the album cover of "Progression towards Evil" By the band Skinless.
I mean I do like it over alot of other American cars. I'm always a fan of cars that people actually bought and could afford vs the stuff people dreamt about
Maze Bank FTW
Good video but dude with black shirts YouTube voice is sooo dam annoying
This is so wholesome just two dudes enjoying a road trip from back to the past hope I could experience this and also hope to meet new ppl to do this with❤🎉❤ 😚
This wasn't the cheapest car as that title may have gone to the Pinto Pony which started at a paltry 3199. The Fairmont started at 3710 for the coupe and 3810 for the sedan making it the cheapest mid size. With destination, auto trans, two-tone paint, exterior décor upgrade, A/C, dual exterior mirrors, cloth seats, bumper guards, accent stripes, AM/FM stereo, power steering and brakes and a full vinyl top and tinted glass this example would have stickered for over 6K which is 26,775 in 2025 money.
The kind of video that u put in full screen and just watch till the end ❤
Youtube was built for this kind of content ❤
Thank you for the video ❤
Fun video ❤

这条视频让我回忆起很多年前在美国的日子,非常怀念很多地方,希望以后能再过去,谢谢
What an awesome video. I usually watch long videos on 2X speed but this I watched slowly and enjoyed every minute of it.
the ultimate cigarette car
Dude. I want that car!
Cheap? Definitely not, damn expensive in my country 🤯 Anyway, great video 🤗
9:48 it's not funny
The two people who were crucified with Jesus were named Dismas and Gestas.
I went to a Ford dealer in 1978 and bargained for a Fairmont, 2 door, 4 speed manual, and 302 V8. After 6 hours ( yes we did that back then, we actually hassled over everything ) I turned down the car after getting the price down to $2500! Why? Because it was a Ford dammit!
Back when 66 was commissioned, it was the primary route to Cali during the dust bowl, which affected people in farms, 66 was the most useful highway, until it was decommissioned in '85 due to unsafe pavement
alot of hard working . thank u guys
They're making references too… The movie the great gumball rally
You live my dream life 🥺🫶🏻
Cheapest car? Eeh – they sold the Pinto and Ford Fiesta that year. If this is 1979's cheapest 4 door sedan, I would not be surprised.
The car id expect a British person to drive through the usa
Ah, yes. Her Majesty Betty White.
Gonna tell the grandchildren that this is the Cars movie
26:51.

Well this she is the real car to do it with. I had a 78 75th anniversary Ford Fairmont inline 6c6 transmission four-door. I miss it. I should have kept it. I really should have kept it. It is the best car I ever had

I can never look at car like this again with a straight face after Ed Bassmaster’s skit 😂. Look at this car!
The sacrilege lost yall a subscriber.
The guy with the wavy hair who says bonnet and is afraid of bugs seems to be a much better driver😂😂
Just to let you goobers know you check tranny fluid with the engine running
It is one of my dreams to cross the country through R66. I hope one day gonna do it
you are either very brave or not very smart. i remember the ford fairmont my mom bought new in 1979. that was perhaps the worst car she's ever owned. i still remember the time i tired to wax it. i could even finish. there was more paint on the rag than the car before i stopped.
the mechanical elements were even worse. i came to believe, the paint is what was holding it together. good luck
My uncle move to America in 75 to New Jersey bought one off them new in 79 and a house in west bury
Story of cars movie 😅
You guys should buy a carb cheater to put on this thing so you can road trip it again. It lost power because as you gain altitude it loses air and starts running rich, which is great for cold starts but not great for power output or spark plug longevity. Carb cheater was designed by a fellow youtuber (ThunderHead289) to use an oxygen sensor and a MAP sensor (placed on the included custom carburetor spacer or a vacuum hose going to it) to determine how rich the engine is running and initiate a computer controlled vacuum leak to bring the fuel mixture back towards stoichiometric, and keep it running properly. The included computer will also show your AFR on its screen and assist with tuning.
this video is wack asf
At the time american cars was dreams
Really this Fairmont was the cheapest car in America in 1979? No Ford Fiesta, no Japanese or VW Beetle…
If you watch the movie The Grapes of Wrath some of the scenes were filmed on Hwy 66 through 1930s Albuquerque and New Mexico.
