CHICAGO, Illinois—The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago completed a multi-million-dollar renovation of its 26 Lakeside Suites, which were updated to reflect a more modern aesthetic inspired by the Windy City’s contemporary skyline and views of Lake Michigan. The project, led by Billy Quimby Design, with custom casework and upholstery by Artco Hospitality Furnishings, reimagined 26,000 square feet of suite accommodations, introducing residential-inspired interiors and updated amenities.

“The transformation of the Lakeside Suites was inspired by the intersection of urban refinement and waterfront serenity, resulting in a design that is both striking and inviting,” said Quimby. “Through the careful use of vibrant accents, tactile materials and sculptural elements, each suite delivers a heightened sense of place while offering guests an elevated hospitality experience.”

At the center of each room is a wet bar with a bespoke quartz backsplash. Paired with sapphire-hued furnishings, Italian-crafted leather, cerused white oak, rich cherry wood accents, airy neutral tones and stone surfaces, the design creates a layering of natural materials and contemporary elements.

Abstract artwork curated by Chicago-based Shashi Caudill Photographs + Fine Art has been placed above the dining room consoles, behind the beds and throughout the living areas.

A custom easel was introduced to the living rooms to integrate the television without detracting from each suite’s panoramic views. Positioned between the two window bays, the sculptural piece serves as both a functional design element and an architectural accent.

“The renovation of our Lakeside Suites reflects the dedication we bring to our guests, continually offering immersive experiences, cutting-edge design and a commitment to excellence,” said Peter Simoncelli, general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago. “Every design choice was intentional, and no detail was spared.”
