  1. And now, thanks to sneaky branding, "motels" barely exist (except, largely, in official names, like Motel 6). So even a lot of accommodations that would otherwise be known as "motels", say, 10-15 or 20 years ago, are called some form of "hotel", even on sites like Booking and Expedia. And it's like, "WHO'RE YOU TRYING TO FOOL, calling this a 'hotel'?" Like, I'm by no means picky- esp. to save money for a vacation- but… can some of these companies/businesses just be HONEST about "being motels", instead of sneakily claiming to be "hotels" that are just 'cheaper'. lol. But.. I guess, b/c "motel" got a 'bad rap', terminology-wise, almost no one these days, anymore, wants to be "known as a motel", so they, by default, rebrand as "hotel", even if it sounds absurd af in some cases. Like, call me crazy, but when I think of "hotel", I think UPSCALE AND AT LEAST SOMEWHAT-FANCY. Something that, for the most part, resembles what would've been called a "motel" (Easily) a decade or 2 ago, is NOT a "hotel" by any stretch! It's OK to be known as a 'motel', esp. if you still make good money off said properties and, at least, properly-clean and disinfect all of the rooms regularly (at the very least) and provide minimally-polite service! …Of course, the fact that any 'motels' got that bad rap b/c of HOW CHEAP AND SCUMMY the owners are is pretty shitty (should've been better-regulated, perhaps, in the long run)

  2. Motels know you will try to take advantage and slip multiple people in your room without paying . But you told them at check in " Only 1 person " The migrant lady said " That's Right, taking advantage of any freebies she can get that others have to pay for to provide for her and all her children and boyfriend she slipped in without paying extra . All of them up in there , 5 or more people , taking 35 to 40 minute showers , washing clothes in the sink, etc . " So surveillance is really tight . Hotels are more expensive upfront, often requiring a credit card hold on a booking , security is tight as well . But how many low income have a clear credit card balance to put a hold on a motel / hotel room? Motels also have filth videos on tv of fallen men and women , crawling in sin. Hotels not so much without a special request for such trash.

  3. My paternal grandfather had a 22 room motel in LA in the 1980s to 1990s… according to my father when he was a young man going to university at that time in the 1980s there was the son of a local politician whom kicked the bucket in a rented room but when after a couple of days passed and the fella didn't exit his room my grandfather sent a cleaner to check in and well the rest pretty much was messed up (pun) as it goes … turns out the fella had a massive OD and the clean up was horrid…
