Welcome to Nairobi National Park, the only national park in the world that’s within a capital city. It’s crazy to think that wild animals, including lions and rhinos are living right next door to millions of people – but that’s exactly what it’s all about at Nairobi National Park!

I’ll be spending 48 hours in Nairobi National Park, to see if it’s worth adding to your Kenya itinerary.

  1. On my first trip to Kenya last month, we went to Nairobi NP straight off the overnight plane. It was great. At one point were were surrounded by 7 white rhinos one of which had a horn that was well over 1m long. The railway line is also fascinating, with a massive Environmental Impact Assessment concluding that it would be a barrier to wildlife, so they put it on stilts, which not only means that it isn't a barrier, but some animals apparently use it for a bit of shelter. Development working with nature! The ivory burning grounds were quite moving as well.
