One of the most satisfying ways to earn hotel points is to leverage lucrative hotel promotions. Luckily, you can earn bonus points through several current IHG promotions. One current IHG promotion even lets you save points on select award stays, while another offers a targeted fast-track path to Diamond Elite status.
IHG One Rewards targets some promotions to select members, so your offer details may differ from those discussed in this story. Here’s a closer look at the current IHG promotions you might want to utilize.
Earn 3,000 IHG points every 2 nights
IHG members can earn 3,000 bonus points every two nights they stay between Sept. 19 and Dec. 31.
You must register for this promotion before completing your first eligible stay. I recommend going to your IHG offers page now to register so you don’t forget to do so later.
Reward nights and points-and-cash stays aren’t eligible for this promotion. For your stay to qualify, you’ll need to spend more than $30 each night and book a qualifying rate (as defined by the IHG One Rewards terms and conditions).

Targeted Diamond Elite fast-track offer
Some IHG members have reported getting a targeted Diamond Elite fast-track offer in their email inbox. Diamond Elite status typically requires 70 qualifying nights or 120,000 qualifying points within a calendar year, but this offer lets targeted members register to earn it through the end of 2025 after staying 10 promotion-qualifying nights between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31.
Promotion-qualifying nights exclude award nights and points-and-cash stays but include qualifying rates booked directly with IHG with a total spend of $30 per night or more. Check your email for a message with a title including “Pre-register for your exclusive offer to earn Diamond Elite” to see whether IHG has targeted you for this promotion. If you are targeted and believe this offer might be useful, go ahead and register.
My husband received this targeted offer. We were striving for him to earn the 70 elite-qualifying nights typically required for Diamond Elite status during this calendar year, but he had only accrued 47 nights to date and would fall 10 nights short with currently booked stays. However, with this fast-track offer, we’ll rearrange some of our stays to get 10 qualifying paid nights at IHG hotels and resorts between Oct. 1 and Dec 31.

15% off IHG reward nights at new hotels and resorts
IHG members can enjoy 15% off reward nights at new hotels and resorts.
The list of eligible new hotels and resorts is updated frequently, so check the current list on IHG’s website. You don’t have to do anything specific to get the discount; sign in to your account and redeem IHG points for a stay at one of the new hotels.
Points-and-cash bookings aren’t eligible for this discount. You also can’t stack this discount with the fourth-reward-night-free perk offered as a benefit of the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card and IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card. Cardholders can only get a 15% discount on stays of three nights or fewer at new hotels and resorts.

Bonus points on car rentals
When you book a Hertz car rental through the IHG Trip Extras portal, you’ll enjoy special rates and bonus IHG points. Specifically, you’ll earn 1,500 IHG points per rental plus 500 points per day if you’re an elite member and 125 points per day if you don’t have IHG elite status.
If you book a Dollar or Thrifty car rental through the IHG Trip Extras portal, you’ll get everyday savings and 125 IHG points per day for your rental.

Bonus points for attending a timeshare presentation
If you want a discounted stay and don’t mind attending a timeshare presentation, you can earn 10,000 IHG points while getting a three-night hotel stay for $199 plus tax or a three-night resort stay for $249 plus tax. This offer is valid for stays in:
- Arizona: Scottsdale
- Florida: Orlando and Cocoa Beach
- Tennessee: Gatlinburg
- Missouri: Branson
- Nevada: Las Vegas
- South Carolina: Myrtle Beach
- Texas: Galveston
- Virginia: Williamsburg
All of the destinations offer the hotel stay option. But only Orlando, Las Vegas, Branson, Galveston and Williamsburg offer the option to stay on-site at a Holiday Inn Club Vacations resort. You’ll need to meet employment, income and other requirements to purchase one of these packages, so check the requirements on the offer page.
If you buy a package, you must attend a one- to two-hour timeshare presentation. These presentations can be intense and are designed to get travelers to say yes to buying a timeshare. Even if you don’t mind attending a timeshare presentation, know that accepting this offer may exclude you from accepting better offers in the future.

Bottom line
It’s worth checking hotel promotions periodically. Current promotions, such as 3,000 bonus points for every two nights stayed, can offer value on upcoming trips for no additional cost. The targeted Diamond Elite fast-track offer can also provide excellent value if you’re targeted and can stay 10 paid nights in the last three months of the year.
