An American whose wife was killed by a hippo on an African safari is suing the tour operator. Lisa and Craig Manders were on a “bush walk” in Zambia with their tour guide when tragedy struck. According to the lawsuit, the hippopotamus violently attacked Lisa Manders. In a statement, the tour company says the couple was accompanied by an experienced professional guide and that all safety measures had been implemented both before and during the attack.

He should sue the hippo, I think. Why can hippos always get away with anything?
Boomers with money to burn and zero common sense.
1 year rip
No grounds to sue. This is the risk you must accept if you choose to go on a wild safari among dangerous and unpredictable animals.
Unlike crocs and lions, hippos usually warns before they attack!
I know this is old but who gives af if it was an American. Does that make a difference in the story?
Stupidity at it's best. If you decide to go to a safari knowing the risk of literally being eaten by one of these animals why cry when tragic happens?
Stay away from these animals. Go to a zoo and watch them from a safe place instead of walking near them and expecting these wild animals to walk up to you like a domesticated animal
Did the hippo eat her.
Heck he should sue the hippo.
how did they get close to the hippo are they allowed to go outside of the safari vehicle?
I've been on a few safaris. Never did I do a "Bush Walk." You are just asking for trouble when you do that.
There is a reason that I never wanted to go on a safari. This might be one reason.
How can the tour operator be held responsible for that? Her choice to enter the domain of dangerous wild animals. It’s a risk. Sad story 🏴
those ppl are clowns, wtf do they think a safari is ??
Yeah because a wild animal says I'm about to attack lol
Maybe do research before going on a safari with hippos, lol. Theyre very dangerous especially around water. I swear people have zero common sense
Hippos are the most TERRITORIAL animal ! I am certain that the couple may had paid the safari tour guide extra money to be closer to the hippo and KARMA !
An important fact: a hippo's yawn is a death threat!
Good luck suing an African company dude
Climb high, they can't climb because of their short legs. Also, don't trust companies that let you get out or have open trucks.
FIVE HUNDRED PEOPLE A YEAR!?!?
I believe they were trying to get a selfie and got to code to water that’s how most inept people are just wanting that selfie I doubt he’ll win
Sigh… You know they're Americans before even opening the video
Don’t go by the hippo
Looks like the hippos like attacking women
No one should be walking! Be in a big vehicle to protect you. You people are so stupid. It's sad. She thought she would be safe.
Stay home peeps.
E took his chance he should have stayed home and watched a hippo documentary.
it is their own fault, I mean you must be kidding me, they are old enough to know better
Who would have thought that wild animals are dangerous?
In africa if you're the slowest person in a group on foot you better have your will filled out.
Statistics..
only animal lovers
It’s a very high risk tour… When you sign up, you accept all the risks.
The safari organizer should have required all the participants to sign a liability waiver.
Simple..they were stupid. Don't go near a hippo.
My condolences. I can’t imagine going through something like that. On the other hand, I also can’t imagine suing a human instead of the hippo.
Only Americans would go to another country and sue em regardless it's not the usa
Sounds like they need new safety measures.
I don't want to be killed by a wild animal in Africa, therefore I will not go walking around in the wilds of Africa. No guide could guarantee their safety 100%. Unless the guide was encouraging them to get closer to the hippo, I don't see any reason to sue.
I feel bad for his loss but I mean dang nature is dangerous. Stay away from large animals/wild animals in general, and stay away from cliffs and moving water. Life outside the city ain't a David Attenborough program.
Hippo attacks. Next thing you're going to tell me is Lions aren't house cats.
The husband is to blame for taking his wife on a safari in Africa. He’s to blame and should be jailed for murder!!!
just ask 0rca Winfree
i don't go out to the safari or an african safari with lions and tigers or hippopotamuses or any would dangerous animals.
😅 rich people
So, you knew safaris are dangerous and thought the tour guide could protect you from unpredictable wildlife? LOL. And now you're suing a third-world country? Good luck with that… LOL. That's what the waiver is for.
Of course he’s suing, it’s the first thing Americans think of when suffering a tragic loss….
I stayed at home and no Hippo attacked yet.
This is quite unfortunate for the woman and her husband. However, this is a risk they willingly took and I don't see how the tour company is at fault for their own personal decision to book a tour that comes with such risks.
There's no such thing as 100% safe when you go out on Safari
Animals are unpredictable
When I went on safari in Jim Corbett National park a tiger literally ambushed our jeep
We had an experienced guide but even he couldn't detect its presence
Luckily we were safe except I have a whole lot of respect for wildlife now.
It was her fault and his. No education in their minds. Start making education about dangerous animals.
