  1. If you are doing the Grand Teton-Yellowstone-Black Hills trip you would enjoy the short diversion to include Devil's Tower NM. There is a lot of stuff to do in the BH. Our kids loved gold panning (it is salted so they will find flakes), cave tours (there are several), and the 1880's train. Not really part of the BH, but only an hour south is the Nebraska Sandhills, which is a scenic drive. By Guernsey, Wyoming you can visit Register Cliffs and Oregon Trail Ruts NM. The trail ruts are several feet deep, Register Cliffs has names and dates carved by many of the Oregon Trail travelers.

  2. One of my favorite things about Grand Canyon is that, if you have the time to stand there at the South Rim for an extended period of time, you can see the colors change on the walls of the canyon as the angle of the sun changes.
Re. Cody, WY, I stopped there for the dinner and show next to the rodeo grounds one night, and it was great.
Right up near the state line in CO, I went on a tour driving what's called a razor, which looks like a souped up dune buggy.
I also did the Durango & Silverton RR., which was beautiful, though it was the summer of '20, which meant we could only go about halfway to Silverton.☹
When I was returning from a solo drive to AK back in '84, I stopped at Jasper and Banff. As already stated, wow!
For those viewers who have trouble with oddly spelled place names, muh-LEAN Lake in Canada is spelled Maligne.

  3. I LOVE y'all's videos! The content is always great and your commentary is even better! The level of excitement in your voices AND on your faces gets me excited about our next trip. We've done most of these trips and drives and your videos keep us wanting to return to Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and the Dakotas year after year! We love Lamar valley in mid to late August, and have been there every year except 2020 (due to Covid). Thanks for taking the time to do your videos. Keep 'em coming!

  4. We are from Europe and we already did part of your trips. Thankss for these GREAT IDEAS. First year we did Gran Canyon, Antilope Canyon, Death Valley and Yosemite. We startet in Las Vegas and ended in SF. Second year we startet in Salt Lake and went to Arches, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, Dinosaur NM, Teton, Yellowstone and also visited Antilope Land. All was amazing. Third year we went from Vancouver to Calgary and visited Bamff NP, Louise Lake, Yoho NP and Jasper. Next time we would lime to start from Denver or Washington.

  5. We're in Atlanta and are doing Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier, and the Black Hills this summer for my husband's 50th. We're so excited! We're trying to plan our big trip for 2026 and are a bit stuck. We want to do Grand Canyon but are divided on if we should do Grand Canyon plus Utah's mighty five or push to the west coast for the redwoods.

  6. You forgot CALIFORNIA : Yosemite, Joshua Trees, Cabrillo, Mojave Preserve, Sequoia plus lots of State Parks like Anza-Borrego. Arizona has lots of parks too as well as New Mexico which hosts a lot of State Parks all over the state.

  7. Great video! We have done many of the suggestions on your video–most of the time we incorporated it into a really large summer road trip. This past summer, we started in Colorado (Rocky Mtn NP, Colorado Springs, Denver, Glenwood Springs area) then drove through Wyoming and Idaho (back side of the Tetons and Stanley, ID), and then drove through Montana on route to Canada. We did Fairmont Hot Springs, BC, Golden, and then Banff (Kootenai, Yoho, Glacier Canada, Banff NP)and Jasper before hitting the road back to SC. We were on the road for 6.5 weeks. 🙂 It was a great trip! This summer, we are doing a an Alaskan cruise but also hitting Olympic NP and Mt Ranier for a day each (because that's all we have before we fly back).

  8. Thank you for these informative videos, I've learned a ton by watching this channel. It's very apparent that you two are teachers from how your videos are so well-organized and fact filled! At the end of your Mighty 5 video, Matt made an offhand comment about considering starting the trip in Denver to include the scenic Routes 70 and 128 to Moab. We did just that and were so glad we added that spectacular scenery, it was unforgettable. Looking forward to more travels in 2025 and beyond using your tips, Happy New Year!

  9. Thanks for the video, we’re doing the mighty five Utah trip this year. After watching the video we might add in the Colorado portion to our trip. Maybe see you guys out on the trail like last year.
