Woman Carried Off During Carnival Cruise

I’m not sure why, but lately, cruise passengers seem to be getting increasingly rude. Shouting, arguments, and outright brawls are becoming increasingly common, and vacations risk no longer being as relaxing as they once were.

The cruise lines still take a hard-line approach; it’s easy to get banned if you don’t follow the rules, yet incidents keep happening.

Take what happened a few days ago: a woman sailing on Carnival Glory was taken away by Bahamian police for refusing to comply with the rules. More specifically, she failed to do something that was mandatory.

What Happened During the Cruise on Carnival Glory

Carnival Glory

As some of you know, Carnival Glory is currently running a three-day round-trip to the Bahamas with a call at the famous port of Nassau.

If you’ve cruised before, you know that once the ship docks, you can either explore the city on your own or opt for an excursion booked through the cruise line.

In this case, a group of passengers had booked a ferry excursion that would take them to the Blue Lagoon.

After waiting about an hour in line, everyone boarded the ferry, ready to set off. Right before departure, however, it turned out that a family of three didn’t have the wristbands that prove you’ve booked the excursion, and therefore didn’t have the right to a seat on the ferry.

There are two possible explanations, though the exact story isn’t clear.
One: the passengers simply made a big mistake; they might have left the wristbands in their cabin or even lost them.

Two: they never booked the excursion at all, which would mean they had no right to board in the first place.

What Happened in the End?

Either way, without the proper wristband, you absolutely cannot join that excursion.

However, when asked to disembark, one woman flat-out refused. According to another passenger, she was asked several times but wouldn’t budge.

She chose to keep everyone stuck in the heat and sun rather than step off the ferry. At that point, the police had to intervene, repeatedly ordering her to leave so the excursion could proceed.

I’m not getting off the boat,” she kept repeating, and the officers were eventually forced to remove her so the other passengers could depart.

What does this teach us? First, carefully read the terms and guidelines of the excursions you book. Review the information sheets to determine if you require a wristband or anything else for the activity you have chosen.

Second, if there’s a misunderstanding or a problem, stay calm and follow the crew’s instructions.

If you behave the way we just saw, you risk being labeled as an unruly passenger, and the cruise line could permanently ban you from its ships, which is not exactly worth it.

In fact, I recommend that you also review the other 7 reasons why you could get banned, so you can steer clear of them and enjoy your vacation in total peace.
