MADERA — Valley Children’s Hospital has been named a 2024 Leapfrog Top Children’s Hospital by the Leapfrog Group. As one of only eight children’s hospitals nationwide–and the only one in California–to receive this honor, Valley Children’s continues to set the benchmark for quality care and patient safety.
A Prestigious Recognition
Firstly, the Leapfrog Top Children’s Hospital award ranks among the most competitive and respected distinctions in healthcare. For the 2024 awards, nearly 2,400 hospitals competed for this honor. Valley Children’s stood out for its exceptional performance in critical areas such as:
- Infection prevention
- Medication error reduction
- Safer surgical practices
- Maternity care
To qualify, hospitals must perform at the top of their peers on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which evaluates adherence to the highest standards of care. The rigorous methodology also includes transparency in reporting and metrics like infection rates and overuse of radiation.
“We are incredibly proud to be recognized once again by The Leapfrog Group,” said Valley Children’s Healthcare President and CEO Todd Suntrapak. “This award is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our entire team to provide the highest standards of care and safety for our patients.”
Leading the Way in Patient Safety
Moreover, Valley Children’s dedication to eliminating harm and achieving its goal of zero harm is a key factor in this recognition. The hospital has implemented strong safety protocols and innovative practices to ensure the best patient outcomes.
“It is our fundamental responsibility to ensure the safety of the children in our care,” said Dr. David Christensen.
Dr. Christensen continues, “We have worked tirelessly to eliminate and achieve our goal of zero harm. Our parents want their children to feel better and be safe, and that is our top priority.”
Raising the Bar in Pediatric Care
Importantly, the Leapfrog Group has recognized Valley Children’s five times for its excellence in healthcare quality and safety. This repeated recognition underscores the hospital’s sustained leadership in pediatric care and its consistent drive to exceed national benchmarks.
“Valley Children’s has set the standard for patient safety, earning the prestigious distinction of a Top Hospital. This elite honor reflects the exceptional efforts of the entire team and places Valley Children’s among the nation’s elite in health care. Congratulations to all who made this remarkable achievement possible,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
