Watch one of my best road trip adventures! In this video I’m driving my 1971 Plymouth Duster simply called The Red Duster, and it breaks down almost immediately. A little help from @junkerup and I’m back on the road just in time for more roadside repairs. Eventually the garbage is reliable enough for 1,800 miles of hunting for vintage cars and trucks and seeing ghost towns, abandoned mines, and Americana. I even stopped at the Big Daddy Ed Roth Rat Fink Museum.
I think you’ll dig this as much as I did. If so, please share The David Freiburger Channel—D/F

Evenlier, Ive learnt a new word, thnx Guys, Happy New Year to all
with 2.73 rear gears and them huge tall tyres i would think the ratio would be more like 2.65/2.70 them tyres look like 28inch plus tall
but that is my opinion only. did them dusters have 14 inch tyres originally,
Giving a derelict car new life without fixing it all up – I get that. When I was growing up, there were old black and white movie matinees – there was this film "Wreck of the Mary Deare" where Gary Cooper gets a tramp steamer off a reef and sails it. Of course, there was also the "planet killer" episode of Star Trek where Kirk and Scotty get a wiped out Starship moving to fight.
There is an ethos to that, that is satisfying.
Kind of like being redeemed by Christ, when you think about it.
Nice Stay Tuned shirt!
WIFE EN I LUV OLD SHIT TOO, WE LIVE IN THE PITTSBURGH AREA BOUT 20 MILES SOUTH, THERES OLD STUFF STILL AROUND,,
omg wow !!
I saw that mustang about 4 years ago on vacation, I still think about it all the time. Maybe some day I’ll go try to buy it. I just went through helper this last summer as well and really enjoyed it, such a cool vibe there. You need to visit Lowell Az, it’s right up your alley.
My 1973 318 Scamp had 2.53 gears. Shift at 5k at 50 and 90. 4k in 3rd was 120.
I've got a 1972 scamp that has a floppy mirror. I'm glad I watched this video cause now I know how I can hopefully fix that.
Awesome video U delivered my friend
Excellent. Cheers from Vancouver 🇨🇦
David I haven't worked on anywhere near the volume of vehicles as you but I'm no slouch either, and the sizzling bearing was a first for me 😂😂
Your best work yet. Right ratio of wrenching to touring!!
Road trips are awesome.
Birdsong is great, he is a fun person to have on the show
That fairbanks scale is wicked cool. I'm watching from just next door to St Johnsbury VT, Fairbanks Scale more or less built that town.
That 1969 mustang is a true mach1. It’s a good buddy of mine that owns it. He has all the trim and everything to restore it but he lost interest in it.
I really enjoyed that. The mining parts were really interesting. Did you try to get a car weight from that scale house?
14.5 mpg puts that Duster in direct competition with a 2010 GMC V8 I had recently. We need to just put every old car back on the road
This takes me back to the 80's when i used to work on my 63 mercury monteray, what a tank but lots of power and fun.
if the chrome dont get you home , the Germans will
I think I remember that "muffler man" from a Roadkill episode… Could be wrong. 🤷🏼♂️
"mildly falling apart"…sounds like my life.
Honestly, this really is one of your best pods you have ever done…….nice to see the real David Freiburger.
You are the best at what you do. Keep it up.
It is awesome you bring a lot of to attention these old towns. I like to eat and stay in places like this.
David love your videos. The old towns are grate to see thanks..
Lou's Diner is legit. Off the beaten path, but ALWAYS packed by locals, which speaks to how good it really is. Give it a shot if you're in the LV/Henderson area.
Awesome episode, Dave! Keep it up.
Diff ratios are best explained by referring to a 10 speed bike. The smaller the gear on the back wheel the faster the bike goes at the same pedalling speed. So a 30 tooth rear cog will be slower than a 24 tooth rear cog if you are pedalling at 80 turns per minute. The front cog is like a 2 speed overdrive.
Being old as dirt i grew up with the rat fink cars and shirts all the way over here in Australia I wish i still had the cards or stickers I had growing up they were the coolest things I owned growing up
Wow, this was really a great show, lot of fun , Thanks !!!
Color of the station could be Sinclair
