Princess Cruises is implementing significant enhancements to its Princess Vacation Protection (PVP) Programs, effective for cruise bookings made on or after December 9, 2025. These updates are intended to simplify choices while expanding coverage availability across global markets.

The most substantial structural change is the retirement of the Standard PVP plan. Moving forward, Platinum PVP will be the sole comprehensive insurance coverage plan available for purchase, priced at 12% of the cruise fare. Concurrently, the popular At-Ease Waiver is being renamed Cancellation Protection. This program, which allows guests to cancel for any reason up to 72 hours before the first departure date for a full refund (minus the program cost), is being expanded globally, excluding the UK and Australia/New Zealand. The cost of Cancellation Protection is tiered, starting at 10% of the cruise fare.

The shift also results in the elimination of a key loyalty perk: the previous benefit that allowed Ruby, Platinum, and Elite members to purchase the Platinum PVP for the price of the retiring Standard PVP. Travelers who booked before the December 9 cutoff date will have their existing coverage grandfathered. The updates underscore Princess’s commitment to providing flexibility and peace of mind, though guests must be aware of the new simplified structure and costs when planning future voyages.
