It’s time to stretch the legs of NEEDSUN the Ford PHEV Ranger. I have a need to drive from Adelaide to Melbourne so this is the perfect opportunity to work out all the modes, when to use the battery, and what the best mode is for fuel consumption

  1. Having done the same thing with a fridge plugged into one of the outlets in the back, you just need to turn the car on with your foot on the brake, accept warning on the dash and the infotainment screen, then you're away. No need to push the Start button a second time as it's ready to go at that stage.

  2. On a trip you have just done I would be getting just under 9 L/100 km with two people onboard and some luggage. A diesel Jeep grand Cherokee with far less complication. I don’t need to answer questions to get it started and my attention is on driving not playing around with info screens. Having said that, I appreciate that you have put this video out so people can have another reference in making an informed decision on whether to purchase a hybrid.

  3. Thanks, I enjoyed the video. I still drive a diesel ute, but I know at some point I’ll be looking at PHEV Ute of some
type , so it’s great to have plenty of info out there. Safe travels. I’ve liked and subscribed.

  4. Great info. The point about still needing a dual battery to run the fridge, plus having to switch to multiple modes for a touring set up (vs current diesel Ranger) seems too hard. I get the point about running around town, does that offset the core purpose of what most Rangers are being used for. I love my Ranger, not sure I would switch to the Hybrid….

  5. Honestly, if you need a quick, normal, time efficient take off this vehicle is obviously not for the normal man. Give me a key any day. You’ll buy yourself at least 20 minutes.

  6. God dam, y'all. What an unnecessarily complex shit box. Ford y'all can just keep that thing Downunder.
Are all the other HEV ute thingos Downunder that bloody complicated?
Surely those cheap China utes are not that complex, yall?
