Norwegian Cruise Line has officially opened several major enhancements at Great Stirrup Cay, its private island destination in the Bahamas, aiming to elevate the guest experience for over one million visitors expected in 2026. The centerpiece of this renovation is the Great Life Lagoon, a 1.4-acre pool complex that rivals the size of two Olympic pools. This new leisure hub features a beach-style entry, swim-up bars for adults, and a dedicated splash zone for children. Adjacent to the main pool, the new Vibe Shore Club offers an exclusive, adults-only retreat with private cabanas and a dedicated bar, accessible via a day pass.
Operational improvements have also been implemented to streamline guest access and mobility. A new pier now allows for easier docking, replacing the previous tender service, while a new Welcome Center and island-wide tram system facilitate movement across the destination. Norwegian executives emphasized that these updates are designed to provide flexibility and premium options for travelers.
Looking forward, the development will continue with the summer 2026 launch of the Great Tides Waterpark, which will include 19 waterslides, a dynamic river, and the industry’s first cliffside jumps. These amenities will service guests arriving on 17 different vessels throughout the year, including the newly launched Norwegian Aqua and the upcoming Norwegian Luna.
