North Fork Library Renovation Project

This project would not be possible without the generous Building Forward Grant from the California State Library (CSL), which is providing 100% of the funding. The grant is dedicated to enhancing life safety and infrastructure in libraries across California, and we are extremely fortunate to have been awarded $4.6 million for this initiative. The grant funds only approved outputs and allowable costs as specified by CSL, with a focus on improving efficiency, prioritizing safety, and addressing critical infrastructure and maintenance needs.

We are still in the early stages of design and awaiting final approval from the grantor on some project aspects, making this an ideal time to solicit feedback on the plans developed by the A&E team. For the North Fork Library Renovation, this includes:

  • Fixing the drainage issues—currently, any time it rains or snows, the lower level becomes flooded
  • Adding a fire suppression system, including alarms and sprinklers
  • Replacing the roof, windows, flooring, doors, siding, lighting, and more
  • Improving the exterior, electrical, plumbing, HVAC system, signage, and data/network infrastructure
