Mombasa, synonymous with sun, sand, beautiful warm weather, and vibrant town life, is one of the great coastal destinations to which most beach-loving visitors are drawn. Mombasa Marine National Park is a fantastic find while in Mombasa. Her alluring beauty, illuminated by coral reefs, combined with crystal clear ocean waters and marine life, will draw you in like a magnet. The coral life is diverse, including Acropora, Turbinaria, and Porites. Crabs, sea urchins, jellyfish, snappers, groupers, surgeonfish, and sweetlips are among the other marine life. There are also seagrasses and marine algae. The birdlife includes a variety of seabirds in large nesting colonies, as well as internationally significant numbers of crab plovers and roseate terns.

Mombasa Marine is surrounded by beautiful beaches. These include; Nyali, Shanzu, Bamburi and Kenyatta Public beaches. Other unique and historic sites around the marine park include; Jumba la Mtwana, Fort Jesus, Haller Park and Shree Jain Temple, among others.

Mombasa Marine Park Activities

Visitors can go jet skiing, boat rides, sailing, and windsurfing. The marine park is a great destination for water magic enthusiasts, snorkelers, and divers. The fee for diving schools is Ksh 300 per boat entry, and the fee for community boats is Ksh 300 per day. Private diving schools and the community manage the boats. Boat fees are charged separately from park admission.

Beach events such as weddings and video shoots are permitted, but only with prior approval from the Park warden.
