UK: Affordable hotel and diner brand Mollie’s, designed by Soho House, has achieved B Corp certification with a score of 95.8.

Over the past 12 months, Mollie’s has reduced its carbon intensity by 14 per cent year on year.

By 2030, the group aims to achieve zero waste to landfill across all its properties; provide 50,000 hours of employee training and development annually; reduce carbon intensity by 50 per cent from 2023 baseline; eliminate Scope 1 or 2 emissions; and explore Bio LPG at each site when available.

Darren Sweetland, managing director of Mollie’s, said: “Becoming B Corp marks an incredible achievement. I am very grateful for the dedication and hard work of the team at Mollie’s, and I extend our thanks to our suppliers and partners for their support and engagement. Looking ahead, we are filled with optimism and excitement for what the future holds in our journey. We know that there is far more work to be done and the hospitality industry holds a unique and powerful position in driving sustainable practices and we are committed to continually improving our sustainability efforts.”

Additionally, people-focussed initiatives accounted for 37.7 points of the overall 95.8 score. 54 per cent of the team’s managers identify as female, 24 per cent of its workforce are from racial or ethnic minorities, and 34 per cent from chronically underemployed populations.

Trudi Parr, head of people and development at Mollie’s, added: “We will continue to absorb B Corp values throughout our business with a people-first approach. Mollie’s is proud to be a hospitality brand that thrives by putting people at the centre, ensuring our future team members and hospitality professionals know that times are changing for the better.

“We are reshaping what it means to work in hospitality, with a workplace that celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strive for an inclusive environment to be proud of; representation at every level is as important for our guests as it is our team,” she said.

Mollie’s launched in 2019 with a purpose-built roadside Motel, Diner & Drive-Thru in Oxfordshire, followed in 2021 by a second Motel and Diner off the M5 at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol.

The first city-based Mollie’s is due to open in Manchester next year.
