A second night’s the charm at Marriott hotels this fall. With Marriott Bonvoy’s latest promotion, members can earn 2,000 or 4,000 bonus points per two-night stay, depending on the brand — and there’s no limit to how many bonus points you can earn. Here are all the details on Marriott’s upcoming Earn 2 Ways promotion.

To take advantage of this promotion, you’ll have to register by heading to this link and logging into your Marriott Bonvoy account by Nov. 12. Then, complete your qualifying stays between Sept. 10 and Nov. 26. You’ll earn 2,000 bonus points for each stay of two or more nights at participating properties. Plus, you’ll earn an additional 2,000 bonus points on each stay of two or more nights at MGM Collection destinations.

As you might expect, only paid stays qualify for this promotion. Award stays, including points redemptions, Cash + Points bookings and free night awards, are not eligible to earn bonus points. The same goes for stays booked through most third-party online retailers and online travel agencies. To earn bonus points (as well as most other Bonvoy perks), you’ll need to book directly through Marriott’s website.

Similarly, if you elect to earn miles with one of Marriott’s airline partners instead of Bonvoy points, you won’t be eligible for bonus points. If you’ve chosen to earn miles in the past and want to take advantage of this promotion, check your Bonvoy account to make sure it’s set to earn Bonvoy points on future stays.

Also, keep in mind that only one room per eligible paid stay can earn bonus points during this promotion. So, if group travel is in your future, you won’t be able to earn bonus points on rooms you book for others in your group.

Not all Marriott brands are participating in this promotion. You won’t be able to earn bonus points at Bulgari, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Marriott Executive Apartments, Marriott Vacation Club (for owner-occupied weeks), Grand Residences by Marriott, Marriott Grand Residence Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Club, The Ritz-Carlton Club, The St. Regis Residence Club and The Luxury Collection Residence Club properties. However, stays at Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy are eligible for promotional credit.

There is no limit to the number of eligible stays you can complete or the number of bonus points you can earn during this promotion. Since bonus points are awarded for each stay of two or more nights (not per two nights stayed), it will be easier to rack up points if you plan multiple shorter stays. For example, three separate two-night stays at a participating MGM Collection property would earn you a total of 12,000 bonus points, while a single six-night stay at the same property would earn only 4,000 bonus points.

Marriott Bonvoy points will typically be awarded to a member’s account within five business days after completing a stay.

Earn bonus points with a Marriott credit card

If you’re a Marriott cardholder, you’ll earn an additional 2,000 bonus points per two-night stay. Marriott is running an identical deal for credit card holders, which means if you have a cobranded card and stay two nights at a Marriott property, you can earn 4,000 to 6,000 points per stay between Sept. 10 and Nov. 26.

Note that you must register for both the fall and exclusive credit card promotions by Nov. 12 to receive your bonus points.

Though you don’t have to pay for your eligible paid stay with your credit card to receive bonus points, you’ll earn additional Marriott points if you do.

With the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card or the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card, you’ll earn 6 points per dollar spent on eligible purchases at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy.

If you have the Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card, you can earn up to 14 points per dollar spent at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels, or you can earn up to 17 points per dollar spent at participating Marriott hotels when using your Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card.

Bottom line

Marriott’s Earn 2 Ways fall promotion and exclusive cardholder offer could potentially be quite lucrative for travelers planning multiple short stays this fall. However, even if you have no travel plans or aren’t sure you’ll be able to stay at a Marriott, it’s worth registering for the promotion now. We always recommend registering for hotel promotions just in case you end up using them.
