The app allows food professionals to easily connect.

FoodFriends.io, developed by Lunchbox CEO Nabeel Alamgir and technical co-founder Shadman Rakib, is on a mission to make it easier for restaurant industry professionals to connect when traveling.

“At its heart, FoodFriends.io is about building relationships and keeping the food community connected,” Alamgir said. “It’s something small we could do to make life a little easier for our peers.”

Why FoodFriends.io?

Alamgir, like many in the industry, found himself missing out on meetups. One day, he left Miami and later realized that Danny Pizarro, CMO for Salty Donut, was nearby, which sparked an idea. He wanted a simple way to know which of his peers were in town without all the hassle.

After learning via LinkedIn peers that others would use such a tool, Shadman built FoodFriends.io in just 21 days to launch the week before the Fast Casual Executive Summit.

How it works

  • Sign up for free at foodfriends.io. Create a profile and similfy conferences to see which of your peers are in town without sending individual texts.
  • If you’re in a city and spot an industry friend nearby, meet up with ease.
  • Privacy & Safety First: FoodFriends.io only shows the city, never the exact location. No contact details are shared — you either know them or you don’t.
