UK: On behalf of Coast & Country Hotels, property adviser Christie & Co has sold the Derwentwater Hotel & Derwent Manor Apartments in Cumbria to Leisureplex Hotel Group for an undisclosed sum.

Located in the village of Portinscale on the shore of Derwentwater, the site features a 47-room hotel, 18 self-catered apartments, and one holiday cottage, along with an open-plan conservatory and gardens.

The acquisition marks the 25th site in the Leisureplex collection, joining the Royal Hotel Weymouth and Waverly Castle Hotel in Melrose.

“We are thrilled to be adding the Derwentwater Hotel into the Leisureplex collection,” said the team. “This acquisition reflects our commitment to giving our customers more choice of hand-picked destinations and the opportunity to enjoy wonderful new excursions. The Lake District remains one of the UK’s most loved holiday regions and we’re excited to offer our guests a fantastic new base from which to explore it.”

Graham Wilkinson, hotel agent for Christie & Co, added: “We are delighted to have worked with the vendors and purchasers of this prominent Lake District hotel, to secure its future as one of the largest and oldest hotels in the north Lake District. The new owners plan to revitalise the business over the months to come. This latest acquisition by Leisureplex Hotel Group reflects the ongoing interest to acquire significant hotel assets in the Lake District and Cumbria.”
