Kraft Heinz has been named to Fast Company’s annual list of the world’s most innovative companies.

It’s the third year in a row the company has made the magazine’s list. This year it landed as number seven within the manufacturing segment for its efforts in modernizing its supply chain as well as leveraging digital solutions to drive productivity and efficiency, according to a press release.

“Here at Kraft Heinz, we are building the supply chain of the future, and what sets us apart is the speed and scale at which we’re implementing our advanced digital solutions to transform our global operations,” Flavio Torres, global chief supply chain officer at Kraft Heinz, said in the release. “For the third year in a row, Kraft Heinz has been honored as a Most Innovative Company, a testament to the innovation we’re driving across every corner of our organization to lead the future of food and push the entire industry forward.”

Kraft Heinz has doubled down on AI and machine learning to power real-time cognitive decision intelligence across its supply chain with the goal of creating a fully integrated end-to-end supply chain with visibility from farm to fork.

Here are just a few solutions that make up Kraft Heinz’s industry leading supply chain digital ecosystem:

  • Kraft Heinz Lighthouse is an AI-enabled supply chain “control tower” that predicts challenges and opportunities across the Company’s supply chain and enables Kraft Heinz to get products into the hands of customers and consumers faster than ever before.
  • The Connected Worker platform digitally translates data into readily available and usable insights for Kraft Heinz’s front line team members.
  • Digital Twin technology simulates different scenarios and predicts the best operating conditions for peak performance. It also gives the Company complete visibility into its production lines across 31 manufacturing facilities in North America.
  • Kraft Heinz’s proprietary AI computer vision system analyzes the quality and specifications of ingredients received from suppliers and is currently being piloted with Claussen pickles. It can pick out a defective cucumber from a truckload of thousands.
