This post focuses on Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park & Reserve Entry Fees. Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park is situated on the southern coast of Kenya near Shimoni and south of Wasini Island in Kwale County near the Tanzanian border.

This peaceful island invites exploration because it is essentially unspoiled and completely different in terms of culture and landscape from the mainland. It has a beautiful sculpted rocky coastline, a low-rag coral forest cover, many baobab trees, and two small villages. The surreal grey-white coral gardens in Wasini Village are run by the friendly ‘Wasini Women’s Boardwalk,‘ which was once beneath the waves but is now simply washed by the incoming tide. They provide guided walks, cold beverages, and a handicraft shop. The circuit’s two-and-a-half acres of petrified coral gardens and mangrove swamps are connected by a meandering boardwalk. Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park was created to protect the scenic islands and special habitats of a diverse range of endemic marine animals and breeding migratory birds. It is located in the coral gardens south of Wasini Island and consists of three small coral rag forest islands, each with an extensive fringing reef.

Kisite is one of the best snorkelling spots on the coast, and visitors can also enjoy bird watching, diving, boat safaris, coral viewing, sunbathing, and swimming. There are approximately 250 recorded fish species, including dolphins, sea turtles, whales, coral, seagrass, and gastropod genera. Visitors can see seabirds in large nesting colonies, as well as roseate terns and crab plovers in large numbers.

The marine park is well-known for its turtle population, with Green and Hawksbill turtles frequently spotted in their favourite hangout, Kijamba cha Kasa. This world-famous Marine Park promises an underwater world of incredible colour and vibrancy, with living coral gardens, sculpted islands, coconut crabs, wheeling seabirds, and sparkling clear waters. The reef feeds and shelters an entire marine community. In the gaps between the rainbow corals, a shifting rainbow of small fish, octopuses, and clams hide.

If you enjoy walking or short hikes with family or friends, there are walking trails on upper Mpunguti island. There is also a beach that visitors can use for parties and weddings, but only during low tides.
