Ike’s Love & Sandwiches has collaborated with basketball great Mitch Richmond to create a vegan barbecue sandwich, “Mitch The Rock Richmond,” a vegan BBQ sandwich featuring vegan meatballs, mushrooms, marinara, barbecue sauce and avocado nestled between Ike’s Dutch Crunch bread.
“Mitch and I just met recently, but I had his jersey as a kid, and I’ve been a fan since high school,” CEO Ike Shehadeh said in a company press release. “He’s a star elite athlete and a fan of plant-based eating. Together, we’ve created a sandwich that’s not just good, it’s MVP-worthy. It’s hearty, it’s loaded with barbecue flavor, and yes — it’s completely vegan.”
Richmond is a six-time NBA All-Star, a five-time All-NBA Team member and a former NBA Rookie of the Year.
“Teaming up with Ike to create my own sandwich has been an amazing ride,” Richmond said in the release. “I’m vegan and wanted to create a vegan sandwich for anyone who loves great barbecue. I’m excited for everyone to try it.”
Ike’s has 100 locations.
