Holland America Ship Returns to Service With New Cabins and Upgrades

Holland America Line’s Westerdam returned to service this weekend after receiving upgrades and new cabins during a two-week dry dock in Singapore.

Westerdam received additional ocean view cabins, a redesigned Crow’s Nest, updated public spaces and accommodations, and a renovated Effy Lounge.

The popular Crow’s Nest has turned into an intimate entertainment hub with an added bandstand stage that is designed for performances and events.

The venue also received upgraded lighting and audio systems to accommodate small-scale live music, lectures, narration and speaking engagements.

There are now 11 more ocean view cabins on the ship. Balcony cabins on deck five through 10, and all Neptune, Signature and Pinnacle suites received new carpet.

Balcony cabins on deck 8 received complete bathroom upgrades, featuring new vanities, mirrors, bathtubs, flooring and wall finishes.

The Atrium received new furniture, carpet and wall coverings.

The updated carpet extends into the elevator lobbies, guest corridors and the Greenhouse Spa & Salon.

Several dining venues on the cruise ship also received enhancements. The ship’s Italian specialty restaurant, Canaletto, underwent a full interior refresh with new carpet and upholstery, while Lido Market now features updated seating and carpet.

The poolside burger and hot dog spot, Dive-In, now has a new food order and pick-up counter that will help improve guest experience.

A new Effy Lounge was unveiled that will help elevate the shopping experience on the ship.
