Faena is opening a hotel in NYC next year — and it’s good news for Accor fans

New York City’s luxury hotel scene just keeps getting better. And next spring, the city will welcome one of the trendiest hotel brands of them all: Faena.

A staple of both the Buenos Aires and Miami hotel landscapes, Faena is a luxury boutique hotel brand that’s more than just a place to rest your weary head. It’s a treat for the senses, a design lovers dream, and a place to see and be seen.

Scheduled to open in late spring 2025, Faena New York will be in a standout Bjarke Ingels Group-designed building that, until 2022, was originally supposed to house a New York outpost of IHG’s Six Senses. However, Accor and Faena won out on the location overlooking the High Line (a series of elevated train tracks transformed into a trendy walking path popular with locals and tourists).

Faena New York will feature 120 rooms and suites, an outpost of the Tierra Santa Healing House spa, a series of restaurants and bars, and nightlife and entertainment. Specific details are sparse right now, though.

However, looking at Faena’s Miami and Buenos Aires projects can provide an idea of what to expect. As TPG’s hotel expert Cameron Sperance previously wrote, those Faena properties could be considered more like leisure districts because of how they are spread out over blocks containing rooms, shops, restaurants and event spaces. Faena and Accor described their projects as “one-of-a-kind, socially responsible, holistic environments, anchored in cultural experiences.”

In terms of design, expect an eclectic, fun, dramatic and at times over-the-top aesthetic — that is, if the New York City property follows the lead of its sister experiences south of the city. To put it in perspective, director Baz Luhrmann (“Elvis,” “Moulin Rouge,” and the Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes version of “Romeo + Juliet”) helped design the hotel.

What we do know, though, is that Faena has already started assembling a dream team of hotel leaders, including General Manager Francois-Olivier Luiggi, who has held senior leadership positions at three New York institutions: The Mark, The Carlyle and The Pierre.

While Faena is part of the Accor family, we hope to see Faena New York join Faena Miami Beach in programs like American Express’ Fine Hotels + Resorts collection, which offers elitelike perks, including late checkout, daily breakfast for two and property credits.
