- Ongoing fleet retrofitting and operational enhancements at Dubai airports
The strategic partnership between Emirates and flydubai continues to deepen, offering travelers enhanced global connectivity and integrated benefits. The collaboration now encompasses a combined network of 245 destinations across 103 countries, allowing passengers to seamlessly connect between the two carriers. This operational synergy has resulted in significant traffic growth, with more than 5 million passengers traveling on codeshare flights in the last year alone—a 10% increase year-over-year. Since the partnership’s inception in 2017, over 22 million customers have utilized the joint network.
Recent data indicates a shift toward higher-end travel within this partnership. Bookings for premium cabins, including First Class and Business Class, rose by 20%, while Premium Economy reservations surged by 130%. To support this demand, both airlines are investing heavily in product upgrades. Emirates is progressing with a massive retrofit program covering nearly 220 aircraft, while flydubai has retrofitted 15 aircraft and introduced dedicated Business Class check-in facilities at Terminal 2. Operational improvements also include streamlined baggage transfers and optimized flight schedules at their Dubai hub.
A central component of the alliance is the shared Emirates Skywards loyalty program. Members can earn and redeem a single currency across both airlines, with elite status holders receiving reciprocal benefits such as lounge access and priority check-in. New initiatives like “Classic Rewards” and an improved “Cash+Miles” option provide further flexibility for redeeming points. Utilizing a combined fleet of 363 modern aircraft, the airlines remain committed to supporting Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda, with a long-term goal of expanding their reach to 400 destinations.
