Princess Cruises has officially announced the addition of two new specialty dining venues to the Diamond Princess, a 115,875-ton vessel accommodating 2,670 guests. Just in time for the 2026 Japan season, the ship now features Makoto Ocean and the Crown Grill, both of which are designed to elevate the onboard culinary experience. Makoto Ocean, located on Deck 7, introduces Edomae-style sushi created by Chef Makoto Okuwa. The menu features sophisticated dishes such as truffle salmon, snow crab temaki, and toro tartare, alongside a selection of cocktails inspired by Japanese ingredients like yuzu and sake.
Simultaneously, the cruise line has debuted the Crown Grill on Deck 5 in the space formerly occupied by the Savoy Dining Room. This signature steakhouse is a staple of the Princess brand, offering premium aged beef, chops, and fresh seafood in an elegant atmosphere. Both dining options are priced at $55 per person, though the cover charge is included for guests who purchase the inclusive Princess Premier package. These additions mirror recent upgrades to the sister ship, Sapphire Princess, ensuring a consistent experience across the fleet’s Japan-built vessels.
These enhancements arrive as Diamond Princess continues its current schedule of roundtrip sailings from Singapore, visiting destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The updates also serve as a precursor to the cruise line’s ambitious plans for 2027. In a historic move, Princess Cruises will deploy both Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess to the Tokyo region for the entire season. This 2027 program will be the brand’s most extensive Japan deployment to date, featuring 78 departures and 50 unique itineraries ranging from seven to 28 days in length.
