The Bulldogs’ last performance at the Rose Parade was on January 2, 2023.  It was a cool, bright morning and was around 55 degrees.  The 270-member band took the stage as the final entry of the day.  The parade’s theme that year was “Turning the Corner”.  This was especially fitting as it marked the first in-person Rose Parade since COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.

However, for the Fresno State Marching Band, the theme also had a more literal meaning.  As they came to the famous “broadcast corner”– a sharp 110-degree turn onto Colorado Boulevard— the band didn’t miss a beat.  Of course, spectators were shocked as the Bulldogs tuned the corner.  Undoubtedly, the band was giving a high-energy performance that was a hit with fans and TV hosts alike.

“I want to get in my car and drive to Fresno right now!” claims KTLA host Mark Steines.

Excitement for the 2025 Parade

Now, the band is gearing up for an even bigger performance at the 2025 parade.  This years theme will be “Best Day Ever”.

“We are honored that the Tournament of Roses committee felt that our band gave one of the best performances in recent memory and have invited us back,” said Steve McKeithen. “We look forward to the challenge of raising our already high bar for the second Rose Parade appearance in program history.”
