US: The Atlas Hotel, operated by Highgate, has opened its doors in the Allston neighbourhood of Boston, Massachusetts.
Developed by Tishman Speyer in collaboration with Harvard University, The Atlas sits near the bank of the Charles River which divides Boston. It contains 246 guest rooms, including 12 suites.
Designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects with interiors by New York-based INC Architecture & Design, the hotel will operate on all-electric energy, with rainwater harvesting bioswales and green infrastructure contributing to LEED Gold and Fitwell certifications.
The property includes a space for Harvard’s student bookstore The COOP, and the university will also have a presence within the hotel with a retail area offering clothing and merchandise.
Additional amenities include two dining venues from the chefs behind the Comfort Kitchen restaurant in Dorchester, Boston – the ground floor Nepali-inspired Ama at the Atlas, and rooftop bar Foxglove Terrace.
“The Atlas marks a new era for hospitality in Boston,” general manager Arnaldo Almonte said. “Luxury hotels with classic New England elegance are commonplace. We are proud to offer a fresh, modern and elevated experience that reflects the city’s innovation while honoring local heritage.”
