Another house has toppled into the Atlantic Ocean at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, where staff is monitoring other houses at risk of collapsing into the surf.

According to a park release Friday morning, the house on Surf Side Drive in Rodanthe, North Carolina, collapsed sometime overnight. Efforts to respond to and begin cleanup operations were currently limited due to severe weather conditions and the closure of N.C. Highway 12 between the Basnight Bridge and Rodanthe.

Crews were also monitoring unoccupied structures at G A Kohler Court and Sea Oats Drive that were at risk of being pulled down by the surf.

The beach in front of Rodanthe was temporarily closed due to hazardous debris. The National Park Service also was urging visitors to avoid the beach and ocean for “otentially many miles to the south of Rodanthe.”

So far this year six houses have collapsed at Rodanthe.
