A few weeks after BurgerFi and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and Wings sold assetsto TREW Capital, the companies are again in new hands.
Happy Asker, the founder of Happy’s Pizza, Savvy Sliders and Fat Boy’s Pizza, has taken ownership of BurgerFi after receiving court approval on Friday, Dec. 13. Jessica and Kuljeet Singh, who also operate Burger King and Round Table Pizza restaurants in the Pacific Northwest, acquired Anthony’s last week.
BurgerFi International, Inc., owner of the BurgerFi and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza & Wings brands, filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
Trew Capital Management Private Credit 2, owned by former BBQ Holdings CEO Jeff Crivello who previoulsy bought Rubio’s out of bankruptcy for $40 million, received court approval on Nov. 8 to acquire BurgerFi’s $10 million assets and Anthony’s $44 million, assuming some liabilities, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission form 8-K filed.
Trew has since sold BurgerFi to Asker and Anthony’s to Jessica and Kuljeet Singh, respectively.

Carl Bachmann, who has been serving as BurgerFi CEO since 2023, will lead Anthony’s, according to email to FastCasual.
BurgerFi has over 1r0 locations; Anthony’s has nearly 50.
