MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES—The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect until 5 p.m. Saturday, October 19th. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring or will shortly occur. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
AFFECTED AREA
- Fire weather zone 579 West Side Hills.
- Fire weather zone 590 Central Sierra Foothills.
- Fire weather zone 592 Central Sierra.
WIND
Northwest to Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts reaching 20 to 25 mph. Ridge-top wind gusts reaching 35 mph.
HUMIDITY
5 to 15 percent for the lower elevations each afternoon. 10 to 20 percent for the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada.
IMPACTS
Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
