OAKHURST — Once again, the Oakhurst community gathers together to celebrate Mountain Heritage Days! Every year, this event brings the area’s rich history and vibrant culture to life. Previously known as Fresno Flats, Oakhurst hosts this annual celebration to welcome the wonderful fall season and showcase the traditions that have shaped the community over the years.
A Parade Full of Local Spirit
To kick the day off, the lively parade starts at 10:00 AM, at Yosemite High School. Following this, the parade travels down School Road towards Road 426, featuring a variety of local floats, community groups and participants of all ages. This parade offers a unique chance for businesses, clubs, families, and individuals to get involved with their community. Additionally, there is no need for an elaborate float — participants are encouraged to ride bikes, be pulled by wagons, or even dress in funny costumes.

Fun & Activities for Everyone
After the parade, the festivities continue to the fair at Fresno Flats Historic Park. This fair offers a wide range of demonstrations and activities that showcase some of the traditional crafts and skills of the area. Visitors have the option to participate in or watch:
- Soap Carving
- Tatting (similar to knitting)
- Using a Washboard
- Gold Panning
- Pine Needle Basket Making
- Weaving
- Butter Making
For those looking for a little more excitement, the Pine Wood Car Race is another popular attraction. The race draws both children and adults into friendly but determined competition. Alongside the various activities, the fair features a silent auction where attendees can place bids on one-of-a-kind items. There will also be vendor booths offering delicious food, handmade crafts and more!
A Day to Remember
Finally, as the day goes on, community members gather for musical entertainment and a Chuck Wagon-style dinner. Thus, creating a perfect way to end the day, all while sharing stories and enjoying good food with friends and neighbors. As if things couldn’t get any better, kids eat FREE at the dinner.
In conclusion, Mountain Heritage Days is more than just an event, it’s a celebration of the communities heritage and another chance for the community to come together.
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the rich history and lively spirit of the Oakhurst area.
