The StubHub statement credit on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees) is one of my favorite benefits on the card.
I receive up to $300 per year to use on purchases made through StubHub or its sister site, Viagogo. The credit is split into two biannual credits of up to $150 (activation required; through Dec. 31, 2027).
If you’re wondering how to get the most value from this benefit, here are real examples from TPG staff showing how they’ve used their StubHub credits.
What does the Sapphire Reserve’s StubHub credit include?
Before we dive into real-life examples from TPG’s staff, let’s review the basics of the StubHub credit on the Sapphire Reserve.
- Total value: Up to $300 each calendar year, split biannually.
- Eligible vendors: Purchases made directly through StubHub or Viagogo (including stubhub.com, the StubHub app, viagogo.com and the Viagogo app).
- How to activate: Log in to your Chase account, navigate to the benefits hub and enroll. Use your eligible Sapphire Reserve card at checkout with StubHub or Viagogo.
- How it’s distributed: Up to $150 to use from January through June and another up to $150 to use from July through December.
- When it posts: Data points suggest the credit typically posts within a day of the transaction. Chase states it will show up within 1-2 billing cycles.
- Notable exclusions: Gift card purchases with StubHub or Viagogo are excluded.
- Benefit end date: Dec. 31, 2027.
What counts as an eligible StubHub purchase?
Most purchases made on StubHub or Viagogo are eligible for the credit (except gift card purchases). You don’t have to spend the full $150 in a single transaction, but any amount you haven’t used by the end of each six-month period won’t roll over.
StubHub’s website divides tickets into general categories, including sports, concerts, theater, festivals and events in top cities. Purchases made within any category on StubHub’s site should trigger the Sapphire Reserve’s statement credit.
Viagogo is an online secondary market partnered with StubHub. It operates similarly to StubHub as a peer-to-peer marketplace for event tickets.
Now, let’s get into the fun stuff. Here are examples of how our staff members have used their StubHub statement credits.

Broadway and theater
There are multiple live theater fans here at TPG, and our staff has used their Sapphire Reserve StubHub credits for some fantastic tickets — including multiple Broadway shows.
TPG senior director of content Summer Hull scored tickets to “Hamilton” during the return of Christopher Jackson, the original George Washington. She paid $258 total for the side orchestra, and the $150 StubHub credit brought the out-of-pocket cost to $108.
Lyndsey Matthews, TPG’s managing editor for points and loyalty programs, snagged tickets to see “Paddington: The Musical” when it comes to New York City in 2027. She paid $35 out of pocket for two mezzanine seats, and the credit posted within hours of her purchase.
TPG travel principal Eric Rosen said it’s “all Broadway all the time” with his StubHub credit. Thanks to the benefit, he paid $60 out of pocket to see “Oh, Mary!” on Broadway in 2025. He used another credit to see “Ragtime” at the Lincoln Center.
Nick Ewen, TPG’s editor-in-chief, also saw “Ragtime” with his StubHub credit — and his ticket wound up costing him just 97 cents out of pocket.
TPG contributing editor for credit cards Matt Moffitt has also used his StubHub credit internationally. In 2025, he got $150 off two tickets to “Les Miserables” in Madrid, bringing his out-of-pocket cost down to just $59.

Concerts and festivals
You can also use the StubHub credit on your Sapphire Reserve for tickets to concerts and music festivals, as many of our staff members do.
Matt recently redeemed his StubHub credit for the first half of 2026 to get $150 off a two-day pass to the World Pride Music Festival in Amsterdam, where he’s looking forward to seeing Paris Hilton perform a DJ set. Matt’s credit brought his out-of-pocket cost down to $157.
TPG senior hotels reporter Tanner Saunders is using his credit to see The Chicks, his favorite band of all time, in New York City later this year. He also double-dipped with the American Airlines eShopping portal to earn 2 AAdvantage miles per dollar spent on his purchase.
Olivia Mittak, a TPG credit cards editor, used her credit for two concerts: Kehlani and Iron & Wine. Alex Rainert, TPG’s senior vice president of product, used his credit to buy tickets to a Zach Bryan concert.
I redeemed my first-half credit for tickets to see Sombr in Charlotte this fall.

Sports events
StubHub is well known for sports tickets, and you can apply the statement credit on your Sapphire Reserve for these events, too.
Nick used his credit in the second half of 2026 for tickets to see the U.S. play Belgium at the World Cup in Seattle.
TPG credit cards writer Stephanie Stevens didn’t pay a dollar out of pocket for tickets to a game between the San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers at Oracle Park. Two tickets near the Giants’ dugout came to $147 total, so the $150 credit completely offset the cost.
Rachel Craft, TPG’s travel writer, bought two tickets to see the Denver Summit, a women’s professional soccer team, play this fall. She spent $50 out of pocket for solid seats and earned 2,000 American Express Membership Rewards points by stacking this credit with a Rakuten deal.
TPG director of email marketing Zach Goldman redeemed his credit for U.S. Open tickets.

Advice for using your Sapphire Reserve’s StubHub credit
To get the most out of your Sapphire Reserve‘s StubHub credit, here are some tips from our staff:
- Instant download: Generally, we recommend buying “instant download” tickets, whether in the U.S. or internationally. This is a good way to reduce the risk of scams or delayed transfers, as instant download allows buyers to confirm their ticket transfer immediately (rather than waiting until close to the event).
- Include all fees: When you’re navigating the StubHub website or app, be sure to select “include all fees” under price display options. StubHub tends to charge high fees, so it’s important to view the true total cost upfront.
- Click through a shopping portal first: Before buying tickets, check shopping portals like Rakuten, which frequently offers elevated cash-back rates (10% or more is a solid benchmark). Capital One Shopping and Capital One Offers can also occasionally provide excellent cash-back or miles-earning opportunities.
- Don’t wait to redeem: Be cautious if you redeem your StubHub credit too close to its refresh date. Giselle Gomez, TPG’s managing editor for credit cards, used her credit June 30. Even though the transaction date was listed as June 30, it officially “posted” to her statement July 1, meaning it was charged to her in the second half of the year rather than the first.

Bottom line
As you can see, the Sapphire Reserve’s StubHub credit is broad. It can apply to a range of purchases, from baseball to Broadway.
Just make sure you use your credit within each six-month window. Any unused portion won’t roll over, so it pays to plan ahead rather than waiting for the last minute.
Set a reminder for June and December, check StubHub or Viagogo for something you’d actually want to see, and let the credit cover part or all of the cost. Do that twice a year, every year, and you’ll get the full $300 in value out of this benefit without ever having to think too hard about it.
While the StubHub credit is one of my favorite Sapphire Reserve perks, it’s only one part of a card that also offers valuable travel protections, flexible Ultimate Rewards points and a range of annual statement credits that can easily justify its annual fee for the right cardholder.
