SUNNYVALE, California—Stay Cal Hospitality opened the doors of voco Ardez Hotel Sunnyvale by IHG. The 51-room property draws inspiration from nature. From a living moss wall in the lobby to a floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar, every design decision was made to highlight the natural world that surrounds Northern California.

“The Ardez has been a passion project of mine from day one,” said Hiten Suraj, CEO of Stay Cal Hospitality. “We designed and built to LEED Gold standards because the way we build matters as much as what we build.” He continued, “Hospitality, at its best, is about welcoming people home. That’s what we built here in Sunnyvale.”

Project Details

The hotel takes its name from Ardez, a small Romansh-speaking village high in Switzerland’s Lower Engadin valley. The design and amenities include:

  • Construction designed and built to LEED Gold standards
  • An original commissioned art program: a hand-painted nest mural at the property’s center, large-scale corridor murals (owl, flamingo, goldfinch) on every floor, and a living moss wall in the lobby
  • Verd’e: the property’s signature craft cocktail lounge and restaurant
  • A floor-to-ceiling glass-enclosed California wine cellar
  • 51 guestrooms with custom floral headboards, mint-and-ochre palettes, and dedicated workspaces
  • voco brand sustainability standards: 100 percent recycled-material bedding, refillable bathroom amenities, glass water bottles, and aerated showerheads
  • A library-inspired great room, dedicated boardroom, and fitness center
  • A Full Swing golf simulator suite

The Ardez is situated minutes from major Silicon Valley employers, San Jose International Airport, Levi’s Stadium, and the Lawrence Caltrain Station, offering access to several attractions.
