CAR magazine Deputy Editor Piers Ward has always wanted to learn how to dance on ice. He gave up doing it with his own feet years ago, but as the next best thing he recently took his 997 Porsche 911 to Northern Sweden to see if he could do it on four wheels.

  1. Not ridiculous – we did this trip in a '98 Lotus Elise – every orifice was crammed with camping gear – even under the front seats – then we drove it to Monaco for the GP

  2. I feel like there is definitely a place for high end ev charging stations. I don’t think they should be brand specific though. I think if you love hanging out at the Porsche EV station you might also like a Porsche.

  3. I bought a 996 Carrera 4S precisely because I live in mountains elevation 5500 feet to ~9000 feet for driving in 4 seasons. Yes, that includes snow, and "GAWD Martha, – Snow and There's a curve ahead!". The big deal is I have a 300 foot long driveway on a hill. A 4Runner or common pickup-truck in 2 wheel drive will NOT make it up the hill at times. Even 4WD is not so easy at times, but doable. So, enter the C4S. I saw your video and remembered a video I saw from the past. Certainly worth a look and a little different – filmed in Colorado. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctzHGo3Wpg8 cheers.

  4. Nice journey and good video. I want to hit the North Pole next year March. However I am going to use hotels/motels etc. Camping sounds like really hardcore choice to me 🤪
Also ice driving without tires with spikes is not a good option even having best winter tires on.
Been to ice driving events in Norway and believe me that spikes is must have option.

  5. Nice! I only get Car magazine now because its the only mag thats bearable from my bank account freebie. Having said that, its so dreadfully electric centric. I cringe for them because its becoming increasingly obvious that electric cars are NOT the answer

  6. I couldn’t find any winter or all season 3PSMF tyres for my 997.1 Carrera 4S. The fronts were a possibility but no one made tyre the fit the sizes of the rears! What did you put in your Carrera 4S?
