Roger Berkowitz, the former face of the Legal Sea Foods empire, is returning to his roots at Boston Logan International Airport.

The James Beard Award winner officially opened Roger’s Fish Co. on Tuesday, marking his first restaurant venture since the sale of his family’s famed brand. Located in the Terminal A satellite area, the 700-square-foot outpost is a fast-casual evolution of his current online seafood market.

The “modern-day fish shack” offers counter service and a streamlined menu designed for the pace of air travel. Featured items include a “Double Clam Chowder,” lobster BLTs on baguettes, and “Roger’s F’n Chips” made with fried haddock. The location also serves beer, cider and frozen cocktails.

“This new concept offers full-service quality menu items but executed in a fast-casual, quick-serve environment,” Berkowitz said in a company press release. “We’ve meticulously designed Roger’s Fish Co. to be inviting… maximizing speed and efficiency while delivering exceptional quality.”

The opening strengthens a long-standing relationship between the restaurateur and the Massachusetts Port Authority. Rich Davey, CEO of Massport, noted that seafood remains an “iconic part of Boston’s culture” and a priority for the airport’s passenger experience.

The project was developed in coordination with MarketPlace Development, which manages Logan’s concessions. Michael DiCosola, president of MarketPlace Development, said the addition of the brand aligns with a shift toward “locally inspired, high-quality” options for modern travelers.

Berkowitz led Legal Sea Foods for nearly 30 years before selling the restaurant group in 2020. Since then, he has focused on his e-commerce brand and advocacy work with the Massachusetts Seafood Collaborative and NOAA’s Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee.
