Fuku, a fried chicken restaurant founded by chef David Chang, will open its first standalone location next week in Coral Gables, Florida.

Located at 135 Miracle Mile, the 2,000-square-foot Coral Gables site marks the company’s first permanent brick-and-mortar expansion in the state, with another location planned for West Palm Beach later this year.

The restaurant concept originated as an off-menu item at Chang’s Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York City before expanding into a standalone brand in 2015.

“This opening is about bringing Fuku back in a way that feels authentic and fun,” Chang said in a company press release.

Claudia Lezcano, the company’s CEO, said the move is part of a broader strategy to increase the brand’s footprint in South Florida.

The menu includes fried chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders and various side dishes. Sandwiches are priced between $10 and $12, while sides range from $4 to $6.

To mark the grand opening, the first 135 customers will receive a promotional package that includes a tote bag, gift cards and other branded merchandise.

Fuku operates 15 locations across the United States, most of which are situated within stadiums and arenas.
