UK: Real estate owner Criterion Capital has purchased the St Giles London Hotel for a reported £220 million, expanding its West End portfolio.
St Giles London Hotel, located at the intersection of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street, features 732 rooms, three restaurants, a bar and on-site casino.
Asif Aziz, CEO and founder of Criterion Capital, was previously involved in the sale of the hotel in 1993 to Ravenscroft Investments.
In 2006, Criterion acquired the underground NCP car park that sits underneath the St Giles London Hotel. The car park was transformed under Criterion’s Zedwell brand and relaunched as an underground hotel in 2023.
The acquisition of the St Giles hotel reunites the wider site under single ownership and brings Criterion’s West End portfolio to 3,700 operating hotel rooms.
The group has a committed pipeline set to exceed 9,000 rooms by 2029.
