New Jersey-based Sigri Indian BBQ, specializing in North Indian barbecue, has launched its national franchise program, with the first multi-unit agreement set to bring the concept to the Chicagoland area.
Guided by Craveworthy Brands, a multi-brand restaurant platform, the first multi-unit deal is with entrepreneur Niraj Shah, who plans to open locations in Schaumburg and Naperville, Illinois, in 2026. Shah, an experienced food and beverage operator, said he was drawn to the brand’s authentic flavors and traditions.
“When I discovered Sigri, it felt like reconnecting with a beloved culture I am familiar,” Shah said in a company press release.
Sigri has two locations and reimagines the culinary culture of India’s roadside restaurants, or ‘dhabas,’ bringing the centuries-old tradition of cooking on an open flame to a modern fast-casual format. Its menu features fire-cooked meats, kebabs and kathi rolls.
Gregg Majewski, CEO and founder of Craveworthy Brands, said consumer passion has driven the growth strategy.
“When fans are asking for Sigri in their communities, we listen,” Majewski said in the release.
Sigri, which co-founder Utkarsh Yadiv said was created to “feel like home,” is focusing its initial franchise growth on key markets including Georgia, Texas and New Jersey.
