There’s regular camping, and then there’s camping where the afternoon plan is basically grab a tube and drift in circles for a while.

For families, couples, and honestly, anyone who likes the idea of mixing campground life with a little resort-style fun, lazy river campgrounds are hard to beat.

They still give that outdoorsy feel, but with a much better answer to summer heat.

Some are full-blown RV resorts. Others feel more like classic campgrounds with one really great bonus. Either way, they make it a whole lot easier to relax.

1. Splash RV Resort & Waterpark, Milton, Florida

2. CreekFire RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

3. Galveston Island KOA Holiday, Texas

This one is a bit different from the typical lazy river campground because it’s not just a campground with a pool added on. It’s basically a full adventure park that happens to have RV sites.

18. Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

For campers who want beach access and resort features, this one deserves a look.

19. Jellystone Park Warrens, Wisconsin

This campground has built a strong reputation as a family destination, and the lazy river is a big part of that appeal.

Not every camper is looking for that. But for the ones who are, it can be exactly right.

20. Jellystone Park Zion, Utah

A lazy river in southern Utah just sounds like something that makes complete sense once the heat shows up.

This park has deluxe RV sites and a legit water zone, so it works really well for families exploring the Zion area who want a nice cool-down spot.

What Makes a Lazy River Campground Worth It

I just want to add that not every campground with a lazy river is automatically amazing.

Sometimes the water feature sounds impressive, then turns out to be smaller than expected or crowded all day.

The best ones usually get a few things right at the same time.

What I usually prefer are spacious sites and campgrounds where the lazy river actually feels like a real part of the campground experience instead of a random add-on.
